I’m longing for the DEEP STATE.   I’m not even sure I was familiar with that term four years ago, when we actually had a robust deep state, but now I know what I’m missing!

So what’s the opposite of the DEEP STATE?  The SHALLOW STATE?  Like those people who are supposed to be running low-income housing who have no background whatsoever in housing, or running anything bigger than a medical office? Right!  But never fear, we have members of the DEEP STATE, who stand behind these figureheads, the ones with twenty years of experience in coordinating very large construction projects, or who understand how to study the advantages and disadvantages of mixed income developments.

Yes, the DEEP STATE.  You know, the ones who staff the pandemic response unit: the ones auditing and ensuring that every supply that might be needed in a global pandemic like PPE, ventilators, ICU beds, etc. is on hand, ready to be shipped to the front lines;  the ones who develop the plan for seamless decision making and coordination between federal, state, and local governments, and between agencies like the CDC, FDA, HHS, and so forth;  the ones with communications experience who ensure that there is a plan in place for communicating important information to the public with lightning speed; you know,

THE GROUP THAT WAS DISBANDED BY THE PRESIDENT WHO SAID THAT HE DOESN’T WANT TO PAY PEOPLE FOR SITTING AROUND.  HE’D RATHER HIRE THEM WHEN NEEDED.
